OPTOMETRIST & CLINIC OWNER
Dr. Courtney Kennedy is a proud Métis entrepreneur and works part time at the Kennedy Eye Clinic & part time at her other clinic in Saskatoon, The Eye Studio YXE. Dr. Kennedy was born and raised in Saskatoon and graduated high school in 2005 with a bilingual (French & English) diploma. She then attended the University of Calgary where she completed a Bachelor of Health Sciences degree (with honours) in Biomedical Sciences in 2009 and finished her Optometry degree (with honours) at the University of Waterloo in 2014. While she was a student, Dr. Kennedy interned in many places including a Veterans Hospital in New York City where she specialized in ocular disease and therapeutics.
Between 2015 and 2018, Dr. Kennedy opened two non-dispensing optometry practices in Saskatoon and in 2020, she decided to amalgamate her practices into one full-scope private practice known as the Kennedy Eye Clinic!
In 2021, she was fortunate enough to open her second location, The Eye Studio YXE. At the Kennedy Eye Clinic, she is very excited to be offering a dry eye clinic with a wide array of technology including IPL, RF and Lipiflow treatments, as well as a medical aesthetics division in her clinic.

2023 - Present: Dr. Kennedy was asked to be 1 of 100 women across Canada to participate in the Women For Wishes campaign for Make-A-Wish Canada! The collective goal is to raise over 1 million dollars.

2023 - Present: Dr. Kennedy brought the ICEE (Indigenous Children Eye Exams) program to SK and lead a team up north to Île-à-la-Crosse to provide free eye exams and free eye wear.

2022 - Present: Kennedy Eye Clinic is partnering with Dress For Success (Saskatoon chapter) and providing one deserving woman a free pair of glasses each month!

2022: Dr. Kennedy won the Swinging With The Stars charity fundraiser in Saskatoon and raised over $44K to go to the City Hospital Eye Foundation! This money directly benefited her patients because it went towards funding new equipment for The Eye Centre.

2022: Dr. Kennedy was a finalist for the Women Entrepreneur's of SK's Indigenous Entrepreneur Of The Year Award.

2022: Kennedy Eye Clinic was a finalist for the NSBA's Business Builder Awards for the Pursuit Of Excellence Award.

2021: Dr. Kennedy was featured by the Government of SK in their Women’s Entrepreneur’s Week and recognized for all of her accomplishments.

2018: Dr. Kennedy was also chosen as Johnson & Johnson’s Top 40 Under 40 Optometrists in Canada!
Dr. Kennedy is a big advocate for supporting local and gives back to the community any chance she gets. Since 2010, Dr. Kennedy has always volunteered with local humane societies and is currently volunteering with the Saskatoon SPCA and SCAT Street Cat Rescue. She is a HUGE animal lover and has 2 dogs and 2 cats of her own! Dr. Kennedy has also been fortunate enough to go on several mission trips to Peru, Thailand and the Philippines and plans to go on many more in the future! In her spare time, Dr. Kennedy enjoys spending time with family and friends, going to the lake and mountains and also loves to travel every chance she gets.
Dr. Kennedy is passionate about doing eye exams on people of all ages and helping people manage their dry eye disease; Dr. Kennedy has had very dry eyes herself since she had laser eye surgery in 2012 so that is why she opened the dry eye clinic! She is welcoming all new patients to her clinic and looks forward to meeting you!

•DR. ANNA MATIKO•
OPTOMETRIST
Dr. Anna Matiko has been working full time at the Kennedy Eye Clinic since 2019 and has been a major asset to the team! She has been practicing optometry for over ten years! Dr. Matiko was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan. When she was younger, her dad always said she was going to be an optometrist and live in Aruba, one out of two isn't bad!
She attended the University of Saskatchewan where she completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Anatomy and Cell Biology in 2008 and finished her Optometry degree (with great distinction) at the Illinois College of Optometry in 2012. While in Chicago she got to experience living in a city with over double the population of the entire province of Saskatchewan!
She enjoyed going to baseball games, eating Chicago-style hot dogs (hold the ketchup), and living walking distance to the Magnificent Mile in downtown Chicago. As part of her education, Dr. Matiko interned in many unique locations including: Bangor, Maine; Mountain Home, Tennessee; Chicago, Illinois; and Melbourne, Australia. She was able to increase her knowledge in primary eyecare, ocular disease, contact lenses, and pediatric eye care. Dr. Matiko is committed to being a life-long learner and is always trying to expand her knowledge base.
In 2021, Dr. Matiko became a first-time mom to her son, Jasper! Dr. Matiko and her husband, Sheldon, could not be happier with their happy and energetic little boy. In her spare time Dr. Matiko can be found playing with her son, tending to her garden, trying a new recipe, or fishing with her husband.
For the first part of Dr. Matiko's career, she worked within non-dispensing optometry clinics in both Saskatoon and Regina. She is now excited to be part of the team at the Kennedy Eye Clinic because it allows her to offer a tailored patient experience from start to finish. As a new mom, Dr. Matiko connects well with other parents and enjoys working with families and patients of all ages!

•DR. JESSE PETERSON•
OPTOMETRIST
Dr. Jesse Olin Peterson was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. After completing his optometry degree at the University of Waterloo in 2016 Jesse soon relocated, beginning his professional career on Vancouver Island. Dr. Peterson has been back practicing in Saskatoon since August of 2022.
Jesse enjoys spending time outdoors; camping, snowboarding, skateboarding, surfing, playing tennis, and golf. In addition, places a lot of importance on family, friends, and building community.
Jesse is extremely excited to be a part of the Kennedy Eye Clinic family. He looks forward to serving the community and providing eye care to those of all ages.

•DR. TIA LYNN•
OPTOMETRIST
Dr. Tia Lynn will be working part time at The Kennedy Eye Clinic on Saturdays. Dr. Lynn was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Prior to optometry school she studied at the University of Saskatchewan where she received Bachelor of Science degrees in Biochemistry and Biology. Dr. Lynn attended Indiana University School of Optometry and graduated in 2021. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and dogs. Dr. Lynn is very excited to be back in Saskatoon to practice optometry and is very excited to join the Kennedy Eye Clinic team!

KENDRA LAGUE
CLINIC MANAGER, CERTIFIED CANADIAN OPTOMETRIC ASSISTANT
Kendra was born and raised in Saskatoon. She has always had a love and curiosity for the eye care industry and was ecstatic to start her new chapter at Kennedy Eye Clinic in 2019! She loves being able to learn new things every day and is so fortunate to work beside such amazing doctors. She loves getting to know patients of all ages, especially children, as she has a daughter, Stevie, at home who keeps her and her husband very busy! In her spare time, Kendra loves being able to spend quality time with her family. She also has a love for drawing, painting, cooking, and animals. (Fun fact, Dr. Kennedy and Kendra both have cats named Gus!) She is excited to be able to meet all new patients and is so happy to be a part of the Kennedy Eye Clinic Team!

SYDNEY FENGSTAD
STUDENT OPTICIAN
Sydney has been working for the Kennedy Eye Clinic since August 2020 and has loved learning about the eye care industry. She started the optician program in September 2022 and can't wait to help you with all of your eye care and glasses needs! When she is not at work, Sydney enjoys spending time with her family and her cat, Harvey! Sydney is always ready to help and is excited to see you at your next visit at the Kennedy Eye Clinic!

KATIE CHAPPELL

Katie was born and raised in Saskatoon and got her start in the optometric field in 2009. She quickly fell in love with the fast paced environment and ability to help people in a functional and fashionable manner. With a range of training from pre-testing to frame and lens selection, Katie is always ready to take on a challenge and help you find the perfect eyewear!

CHAELSEY LOEHR
Lab Manager / LICENSED OPTICIAN
Chaelsey was born in Saskatoon and raised in Quill Lake, SK. She has been in the Optical industry since 2010, completing the Optical Sciences Program in 2012. She loves a good challenge when it comes to adjusting or fixing frames! In her spare time she loves gardening and spending time with her family. She never lost her love for the country, and lives on an acreage with her husband, two children, their dog & two cats. Chaelsey loves being a part of the Kennedy Eye Clinic team and looks forward to meeting you & helping you see better with your new glasses!

TANIS HRETSINA
Assistant Manager/ Dry Eye Champion / CERTIFIED CANADIAN OPTOMETRIC ASSISTANT
Tanis was born and raised in Saskatoon. She has been working as an optometric assistant since 2014, completing her certification as a Canadian Optometric Assistant in 2015. She loves to travel as well as spend weekend getaways in the mountains with her partner and often with their dog, Roni, in tow! Tanis has been passionate about the eye care industry since day one and is thrilled to share her enthusiasm with each and every patient who comes through the door!
Fun Fact: Tanis is our in-house dry eye champion and if you need in-house dry eye treatments, she will be the one doing them for you!

PATRICIA MAGALLANES
OPTOMETRIC ASSISTANT
Patricia was born and raised in the Philippines, and moved to Canada with her family at the age of 16. She is currently taking her undergraduate at the University of Saskatchewan in hopes to become an Optometrist. In her spare time, she enjoys painting and drawing, as well as playing tennis with her partner. Patricia is excited to learn as much as she can about the industry in hopes of becoming a successful Optometrist in the future. But for now, she is very excited to assist you during your visit!

SALLY NGUYEN
OPTOMETRIC ASSISTANT/FRAME STYLIST
Sally is the newest team member of KEC and has loved every minute of learning new things in the eye care industry. When she’s not making you laugh and helping you pick out the perfect frames, you can catch her biking down by Meeswasin Trail, lifting weights at the gym, kickboxing or making appearances in music videos. She’s also the biggest New York Rangers fan.
Fun Fact: Sally can speak Vietnamese fluently!

MORGAN MOCK
OPTOMETRIC ASSISTANT
Morgan grew up in Unity, SK and joined the Kennedy Eye Clinic team in January 2023! She is very grateful to be working with a great group of women! She loves learning about the Optometry field and loves the fast paced work environment. In her free time, she play in a women’s softball league and she is also a home based lash artist, which keeps her busy!
