OPTOMETRIST & CLINIC OWNER
Dr. Courtney Kennedy works full time at the Kennedy Eye Clinic. She was born and raised in Saskatoon and attended the University of Calgary where she completed a Bachelor of Health Sciences degree (with honours) in Biomedical Sciences in 2009.
She then finished her Optometry degree (with honours) at the University of Waterloo in 2014 and decided to return home to Saskatoon to practice Optometry! While she was a student, Dr. Kennedy interned in many places including a Veterans Hospital in NYC where she specialized in ocular disease and therapeutics.
Between 2015 and 2018, Dr. Kennedy opened two non-dispensing optometry practices in Saskatoon and in 2020, she decided to amalgamate her practices into one full-scope private practice.
She is very excited to be offering a unique advanced dry eye clinic while being the first optometry clinic in Saskatchewan to offer in-house aesthetics and cosmetic Optometry!
Dr. Kennedy is passionate about supporting local businesses in Saskatoon and being a female indigenous entrepreneur has been a privilege that allows her to best serve the needs of her patients. In 2018, Dr. Kennedy was chosen as Johnson & Johnson’s Top 40 Under 40 Optometrists in Canada. She went to Toronto several times to learn from leading experts in Optometry and Google on how to be the best practitioner and business owner possible.
Since 2010, Dr. Kennedy has always volunteered with local humane societies and is currently volunteering with the Saskatoon SPCA. Dr. Kennedy has also been fortunate enough to go on several mission trips to Peru, Thailand and the Philippines and plans to go on many more in the future! In her spare time, Dr. Kennedy enjoys spending time with family and friends, going to the lake and mountains and also loves to travel every chance she gets.
Dr. Kennedy is passionate about doing eye exams on people of all ages, treating dry eye disease, doing contact lens fits, managing and co-managing ocular pathology cases as well as providing exceptional top quality eye care to all her patients. She loves meeting and interacting with people of all ages and is welcoming all new patients to her practice!
Dr. Matiko has been working full time at the Kennedy Eye Clinic since 2019 and has been a major asset to the team! Dr. Matiko was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan. She attended the University of Saskatchewan, completing a Bachelor of Science in Anatomy and Cell Biology. After, she moved to Chicago to complete her Doctorate of Optometry at the Illinois College of Optometry. There she graduated in 2012 with great distinction.
During the last year of Dr. Matiko’s optometric degree, she worked at Vision Care of Maine, the University of Melbourne, James H. Quillen VA Medical Center, and the Illinois Eye Institute. She experienced a variety of practice modalities and increased her knowledge in ocular disease, contact lenses, and pediatric eye care. Dr. Matiko is committed to being a life-long learner and is always trying to expand her knowledge base.
In her spare time, Dr. Matiko can be found at the gym, trying a new recipe at home, or fishing with her husband, Sheldon. She has a sense of adventure and likes to travel. Dr. Matiko enjoys working with patients of all ages and is excited to be part of the team at Kennedy Eye Care.
Dr. Prete works 1-2 days a month at the Kennedy Eye Clinic and has been working with us since 2016! Dr. Prete completed his Bachelor of Science - Honours Physiology at the U of S and went on to finish his Doctor of Optometry at the University of Waterloo in 2014. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, a world-renown professional practice association dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of eye care.
Dr. Prete sees all patients from children to the elderly and has a special interest in diseases of the eye and visual system. This led him to pursue post-graduate residency training the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area in sunny South Florida at the Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry.
In addition to teaching at Nova Southeastern University’s The Eye Care Institute, he practiced in various services specialized in the management of glaucoma, neuro-ophthalmic disease, ocular oncology, diseases of the retina and vitreous, and corneal and refractive surgery. He has published multiple scientific papers and often presents at optometry conferences across Canada and the USA.
Outside of his professional practice, Dr. Prete stays active through CrossFit, yoga, and 10-pin Bowling. As a former Canada Winter Games medallist in figure skating, Dr. Prete remains connected to the sport. Throughout the winter you’ll find him at the rink officiating at skating competitions all over the province.
Dr. Prete is exclusively performing all hard and scleral contact lens fits at the Kennedy Eye Clinic (including myopia control as well as diseased cornea cases) and is also taking on dry eye and routine patients!
Dr. Dunham was born in Saskatoon and grew up nearby in the small town of Lanigan. She graduated from the Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry programs with honors from the University of Waterloo. Dr. Dunham then practiced in Edmonton for two years before making the move home to Saskatoon.
Dr. Dunham was fortunate to participate in an optometry and medical aid trip to Peru in 2016. She was awarded the RACH Memorial Award in 2018 for her achievements while attending the University of Waterloo.
Volunteering and advocating for mental health, wellness, and the LGBTQ2+ community is close to her heart. This gives her unique insight and sensitivity to provide compassionate and thorough care to patients of all backgrounds. In her down time, she enjoys travel, camping, yoga, and spending time with her dog, Lily.
She enjoys the challenges and variety encountered with optometric primary care, from pediatric care and contact lenses to dry eye and ocular disease. All patients are warmly welcomed with Dr. Dunham. She is excited to offer her skill, compassion, and knowledge with the Kennedy Eye Clinic to give all patients exceptional care.
CLINIC MANAGER, CERTIFIED CANADIAN OPTOMETRIC ASSISTANT
Kendra was born and raised in Saskatoon. She has always had a love and curiosity for the eye care industry and was ecstatic to start her new chapter at Kennedy Eye Clinic in 2019! She loves being able to learn new things every day and is so fortunate to work beside such amazing doctors. She loves getting to know patients of all ages, especially children, as she has a daughter, Stevie, at home who keeps her and her husband very busy! In her spare time, Kendra loves being able to spend quality time with her family. She also has a love for drawing, painting, cooking, and animals. (Fun fact, Dr. Kennedy and Kendra both have cats named Gus!) She is excited to be able to meet all new patients and is so happy to be a part of the Kennedy Eye Clinic Team!
Raelene Henderson was born in Lloydminster and raised in Saskatoon, SK. She completed the Optical Science Program 2017 and has been a member of the Kennedy Eye Clinic team since 2020! Fun fact: Raelene and Dr. Kennedy went to high school together in Saskatoon! In her spare time, Raelene enjoys gardening, camping and spending time with family and friends. Raelene looks forward to assisting you with all of your glasses needs!
Sydney has been working for the Kennedy Eye Clinic since August 2020 and has loved learning about the eye care industry. She mainly works at the front desk as a receptionist, but you can also find her helping out the girls on the optician side of the clinic or ordering contact lenses for patients. When she is not at work, Sydney enjoys spending time with her family and her two cats at home. Sydney is always ready to help and is excited to see you at your next visit at the Kennedy Eye Clinic!
Bobbi is our pretest technician and receptionist! She is also an actor, painter, and writer, with a huge heart for all disciplines of the arts. Because of her artistic eye and love for public interaction, she finds her position at the Kennedy Eye Clinic to be a perfect fit! Alongside her theatrical and optometric assistant careers, Bobbi loves to spend time with her partner Graham and their cat Hobbes. Make sure to catch both filmed and live productions of Bobbi's original musical "Typecastress", which is being used to promote the city of Saskatoon and celebrate International Women's Day this upcoming spring!

Katie was born and raised in Saskatoon and got her start in the optometric field in 2009. She quickly fell in love with the fast paced environment and ability to help people in a functional and fashionable manner. With a range of training from pre-testing to frame and lens selection, Katie is always ready to take on a challenge and help you find the perfect eyewear!
Chaelsey was born in Saskatoon and raised in Quill Lake, SK. She has been in the Optical industry since 2010, completing the Optical Sciences Program in 2012. She loves a good challenge when it comes to adjusting or fixing frames! In her spare time she loves gardening and spending time with her family. She never lost her love for the country, and lives on an acreage with her husband, two children, their dog & two cats. Chaelsey loves being a part of the Kennedy Eye Clinic team and looks forward to meeting you & helping you see better with your new glasses!
